Asbestos has a significant impact on the health of the community. Consumption use in developing countries sees an increasing or static trend while use is banned in many developed countries. Use excessively in construction and automotive industries, asbestos's popularity is due to its fibrous nature, and heat resistance, it can be molded into many facets, and easily manipulated according to the consumers' needs. Asbestos is still recently imported into the country. However long-term exposure, usually occupational-related exposure, carries health risks since the fibers could not be broken down in the body. In this book, the burden and possible health effects of asbestos are discussed. In addition, this book explored the contents of asbestos that can negatively affect an individual's health and produce Asbestos Related Diseases (ARD) and materials that may be used to replace asbestos in the long run. The book also examines a few ASEAN countries to provide a clearer picture of the impact of ARD that may present as long-term disabilities to one's health. The book looked at the cost of health effects of ARD management and the cost of consumption in the country.
